Intel Capital announced 18 new investments totally around $77 million in companies world wide. Nine of the new investment are with US companies, while the rest are distributed throughout Europe and Asia. 2010 has also been an excellent year for Intel Capital portfolio companies. To date, 28 Intel Capital portfolio companies have exited in 2010 either through an IPO or acquisition.
Linaro showcases progress and momentum for its collaborative embedded Linux organisation at ARM Techcon in Santa Clara. In a demonstration that shows Linaro delivering on its mission to make open source development easier, quicker and more optimized, Samsung, ST-Ericsson and TI will be showcasing multiple open source distributions, running on multiple SoCs using code or tools that have been enhanced by Linaro.

Cadence reported third quarter 2010 revenue of $238 million, compared to revenue of $216 million reported for the same period in 2009. On a GAAP basis, Cadence recognized net income of $127 million, or $0.48 per share on a diluted basis in the third quarter of 2010, compared to a net loss of $14 million, or $(0.05) per share on a diluted basis, in the same period in 2009. Cadence's third quarter 2010 net income includes a $148 million income tax benefit related to the settlement of an Internal Revenue Service examination of Cadence's federal income tax returns for the tax years 2000 through 2002.
Linaro, at its inaugural developer conference, announced that its board of directors has named George Grey as the company's chief executive officer. Grey’s 27-year career has included a number of software and hardware high-tech companies in Europe and the U.S. Prior to this role, he was founder and CEO of Mobicious, a mobile content start-up, and president and COO of SavaJe, a Java-based smart phone operating system.
The Interoperable PDK Libraries (IPL) Alliance announced today that STMicroelectronics has joined the Alliance as the first semiconductor board member. STMicroelectronics brings years of experience in multi-vendor analog/mixed-signal design flows to further the IPL Alliance's efforts in creating and promoting interoperable process design kit (iPDK) standards.
